Graduation

Ben "graduated" from swim school today-he was in the Platypus level, and he did "great work" during his class. Here he is celebrating with Mr. Greg and Miss Sherilyn-his 2 wonderful instructors (and biggest cheerleaders next to Mommy & Daddy!)

Ben enjoyed the Red Wings victory last night-tried desperately to get the best seat ("stand") in the house

Daily photo

So, I thought since Ben has so many mini-adventures daily I would try for at least 1 picture a day (I guess we will see how long that lasts). Today, I have a couple.

First-Ben's first time sitting in the shopping cart at the grocery store (which he seemed to like)

Second-Ben being naughty...which he is about 50% of the time now testing his limits

Third-Ben trouble-shooting what to do when there is cheese on his high chair tray and his hands are full of squished up cheese...

Seriously on the Go and a Visit from Auntie Jackie

Ben is officially off and running...make that crwaling. He is getting into everything, and over the last week has learned how to pull himself up onto his knees grabbing onto almost anything. The getting down is still a but scary (and sometimes tear-inducing), but overall he is really enjoying his new mobility. He is also eating finger foods (when they make it into his mouth) and the pincer grasp is coming out from time to time (OK-sorry for the dorky pediatrician reference!) Ben learned how to knock the camera off his crib (the one for the monitor) so we have had to reposition it above the crib, which I am sure is just more incentive for him to pull all the way up soon. I believe he is only days away...

Crawling is FUN!

Up on my knees and showing off my new "squishy face"

Such a big boy I can even stand up on dirty laundry!

Auntie Jackie came from Hoboken, New Jersey for a visit at the Casa de Freeto in sunny AZ. We enjoyed lots of baby squeezing, walks in the morning (before it was WAY too hot) and mommy even got to join her for some relaxing by the pool. Aunite Jackie has not been blessed with the same pearly white Irish skin that Benjamin has, and the photos demonstrate a "study in contrast". He loved meeting her, though, and can't wait to meet little Mira too (her 21 month old daughter) hopefully this summer.

Check me out Auntie Jacks

Despite being an Arizona baby, Benjamin is not sporting a great tan-all for the best though.

We have grand plans for the rest of the "spring"-try to stay cool, try to find a place to live in Napa, and enjoy our last 2.5 months in Tucson with our very great friends and LOTS of heat and sunshine. Speaking of friends, check out this little video of Ben and a newfound "friend" in our apartment.

Big Boy Now

Last weekend, we enjoyed a fun visit with our friends Becca and Parker Moran. Paker is 10 months old, and she was trying to teach Ben "the ropes" of becoming a big boy. They enjoyed a long walk in Sabino Canyon Saturday morning, and otherwise played nicely, stealing each other's toys throughout the weekend. Parker even left a toy here for Ben so he can remember their first weekend together in Tucson.

Getting to know one another and "sharing" toys
They have both had enough of the pictures, mommies!

Enjoying the cutest babies around!

Benjamin is a crawling fanatic now. We finally had to buy some baby proofing items, especially plug covers, as he is getting more mobile every day. He continues to love "swimming lessons", and even sustained his first visible crawling injury on the side of the pool. We practice reaching for the wall and "climbing" out of the pool, crawling away from the edge. Ben got so excited about the toy on the edge of the pool that his hand slipped and he hit his forehead on the concrete side of the pool. He was a big boy, though, and only cried for about 10 seconds, until distracted by in-pool play and other toys.

The red mark on his left forhead (not too obvious, thankfully!) is his first official "boy battle wound"
