Where the Wild Things Are

"And when he came to the place where the wild things are they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth

and rolled their terrible eyes

and showed their terrible claws

till Benjamin needed a snack. And, by the way, he was wondering if these stripes make him look chubby? I, myself, am a big fan of babies in horizontal stripes!

Take me out to the Ballgame-SUITE STYLE

Our friend Kate Fenner, who lives in San Francisco, had luxury suite tickets to the Cubs vs. Giants baseball game today. We were invited to go along, as Benjamin is a HUGE Cubs fan, and we had a great time. There WAS watermelon, after all...

I got a little on my shirt Mom. My pants too.

The view from our box (right behind home plate!)

Benjamin's getting excited about the game

Baseball is cool!

Take that Giants!

What is all this nonsense?!

Slacker

Sorry to anyone who is trying to see more pictures of our cute boy-I am and have been a huge slacker. From here on out, I promise to try harder to be more consistent (we are still working out the kinks in developing our routine here...)

Benjamin has been pretty busy. He stands a lot on his own and has taken a few steps several times. He is not committed to walking yet, which is fine with me. We have started a yoga class for moms and little ones, and he has made a couple new friends there. We are looking forward to storytime starting at the Napa library this week, and hope to enjoy a few more warm days in the inflatable pool before we put it away for the year.

Benjamin had his 1 year check-up on Friday (September 18) and he is checking in at 24 pounds 4 ounces and 30 inches in length. Of note, while his length is around the 50 %ile and his weight nearer the 75-90 %ile, his head circumference is > 97 %ile...which means he has a BIG BRAIN to soak up all sorts of information as he continues to grow (or else that he got the Perry head...)

Some of the latest...
Out for a stroll in the hills and vineyards

Tough guy in his camp shirt at Bruin Woods Counselor Reunion Labor Day weekend

Doing puzzles at his new table in his room (see how he can differnetiate between the "6" in his hand, and the "9" which he has thrown on the floor behind him)

Poor Mr. Frog just can't catch a break-here is Benjamin in his "big boy" bath, feeding Mr. Frog to "Moby" the whale-poor guy!

Benjamin got a stye (2 actually) which looked really nasty, but have finally gone away (and I didn't even have to pic at them, which was really tempting). I was constantly reminded of the poem by Shel SIlverstein "I cannot go to school today!" Funny stuff

Benjamin's first trip to Calistoga, to the library to get a book for my book club. Ben, in his monkey shirt, was demonstrating the sound a monkey makes (or else I just got an aptly-timed photo-you decide)
